Understanding State vs Central Solar Subsidy
When you install a solar system in India, you are primarily eligible for the Central Financial Assistance (CFA) under the PM Surya Ghar scheme (₹78,000 for 3kW). However, electricity is a concurrent subject, meaning States can also frame their own policies.
Which states offer extra subsidy?
Currently, Uttar Pradesh is leading the way by offering an additional state subsidy of ₹15,000 per kW (capped at ₹30,000). This is in addition to the central subsidy. Other states like Delhi have had similar schemes in the past.
How to claim?
The process is usually unified through the National Portal. However, for the state-specific portion, the funds might come from the State Renewable Energy Department (e.g., UPNEDA) separately.
