PM KUSUM Yojana 2026: The Ultimate Guide
The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM KUSUM) is the Government of India's flagship program to transform the agricultural sector. By providing massive subsidies on solar water pumps, the scheme aims to free farmers from diesel dependence and erratic rural grids.
How PM KUSUM Subsidy Works (Component B)
Under Component B of the scheme, the government supports the installation of standalone off-grid solar water pumps for agriculture.
- Central Govt Subsidy (MNRE): 30% of the benchmark cost.
- State Govt Subsidy: 30% of the benchmark cost.
- Bank Loan: Up to 30% of the cost can be financed by commercial banks.
- Farmer Investment: Only 10% to 40% upfront investment is required from the farmer.
Eligibility Rules for 2026
- Target Beneficiaries: Individual farmers, Water User Associations, and Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs).
- Pump Limit: The subsidy is generally available for solar pumps up to 7.5 HP. Pumps above 7.5 HP are allowed, but the subsidy amount is capped at the 7.5 HP rate.
- Land Requirements: Farmers must possess agricultural land in their name and have a functional water source (borewell, river, pond).
- No Existing Grid Connection: Under Component B, preference is given to farmers who do not currently have a grid-connected agricultural pump.
