Common Questions

FAQ

Why do vendor quotes vary so much? +
Quality matters. A vendor using high-rise structures (to keep the roof usable) charges more than one installing standard low-height structures. Using premium cables (Polycab/Havells) vs generic ones also affects price significantly.
Are there any hidden costs? +
Usually, the vendor quote is all-inclusive. You may pay a small official fee to the Utility for Net Meter application ($500–$2,000 depending on state). If your existing meter box needs replacement, that may be extra.
Is battery backup included in this price? +
No. These prices are for on-grid (grid-tied) systems without batteries. For a hybrid system with battery backup, add approximately $15,000–$20,000 per kWh of battery storage.
How is the government subsidy applied? +
Under Federal ITC Muft Bijli Yojana, the Central Financial Assistance (CFA) is credited directly to your bank account after successful installation and Utility inspection. The vendor typically fronts the installation; you don't pay the subsidy amount upfront.
