☀️ Going Solar in Kokrajhar, Assam
Homes in Kokrajhar can claim up to ₹85,800 under PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana for a rooftop system of up to 3 kW. In 2026 a 3 kW on-grid system typically costs ₹1.6–2.1 lakh before the subsidy, generates around 360 units a month and usually pays for itself in 3–6 years, depending on your tariff.
How the subsidy process works
- Register on pmsuryaghar.gov.in with your electricity consumer number.
- Choose a registered vendor and apply for rooftop solar and net metering with your DISCOM.
- The vendor installs DCR panels from an ALMM-listed manufacturer.
- The DISCOM inspects the system and installs the net meter.
- Submit your bank details; the subsidy is paid directly into your bank account.
Questions to ask any solar installer
- Are you registered as a vendor on the PM Surya Ghar portal for my DISCOM?

- What warranty do you give on workmanship, and who handles service visits?
- Does the quote include the structure, earthing, lightning arrester, cabling and net-meter paperwork?
