PM Surya Ghar Yojana & Subsidies

What is PM Surya Ghar Yojana?
It is a government scheme to illuminate 1 crore households with free electricity by providing up to ₹78,000 subsidy for rooftop solar.
How much subsidy can I get?
₹30,000 for 1kW, ₹60,000 for 2kW, and a maximum of ₹78,000 for systems of 3kW and above.
Are imported panels eligible for subsidy?
No. To claim subsidy, you must use Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) modules, which are made in India.
Can I get a loan for solar rooftop?

Technical & Installation

How much space do I need?
Approximately 100 sq. ft. of shadow-free rooftop area is required for 1kW of solar capacity.
What is On-Grid vs Off-Grid?
On-grid systems are connected to the government grid and earn credits through net-metering. Off-grid systems use batteries to store power for use when the sun isn't shining.

How long does solar take to pay for itself?
