The ₹78,000 PM Surya Ghar subsidy applies to both when a registered vendor installs DCR panels with net metering. Panel brand also changes the price: Waaree, Adani and Tata panels cost roughly ₹25–₹38 per watt, so 5kW of panels costs about ₹1,25,000 – ₹1,90,000. A 5kW system qualifies for the ₹78,000 PM Surya Ghar central subsidy in most states; hill, North-East and island states get 10% more (₹85,800, shown in the table below). The only state top-up is Uttar Pradesh, which layers on its own top-up subsidy (₹15,000/kW, capped ₹30,000) on top of the central amount.
